CCEF host its first Hearts & Minds 5K Run “May the Foundation Be With You”

The Corpus Christi Education Foundation (CCEF) hosted its first Hearts & Minds 5K Run “May the Foundation be with you”, proceeds from this event benefits the Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD).

Over 1,200 CCISD students participated along with many CCISD teachers/staff, business partners, and community members. Every CCISD school running club was sponsored, so students were able to participate at no charge.

CCEF serves and supports CCISD students and educators through financial contributions and volunteer service by providing students with innovative programming in the classroom, including real-world, hands-on and unique educational experiences that would not otherwise be funded through the district.

Thank you to all our sponsors for making this event successful!

CCEF Awards $56,877 to CCISD Teachers, Students

Hands-on, interactive learning opportunities will educate and inspire over 8,000 CCISD students in this school year alone, thanks to 30 Grants for World Class Schools awarded today by the Corpus Christi Education Foundation (CCEF). Community professionals, CCISD Trustees and board members from the CCEF are traveled to schools across the district this morning … surprising educators at each campus with checks totaling $56, 877.

Grant applications were received from across the district, submitted by more than 100 educators. Recipients were selected from those who desire to provide truly engaging learning experiences for their students, both within and beyond the walls of the classroom.

During the last school year (2014-2015), the education foundation awarded a total of more than $174,000 in grants and scholarships to CCISD students and teachers. Disbursements included funds awarded through this particular grant program in December 2014, which totaled $53,306. This year, the foundation is awarding even more grants thanks to community support.

These grants are made possible by many in the community who highly value the quality of education for CCISD students, including CCorpus Christi Caller TimesAllen Samuel ChevroletAmerican Bank CenterCoastal Community And Teachers Credit UnionFulton Coastcon;INSPIRE Coastal Bend MagazineLinebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson LLP; and Stripes LLC.
